Starting in 2015, we started growing barley as part of our small grain offerings. We use barley in our carefully selected crop rotation as an alternative to winter wheat. We select, produce and tailor our malting barley varieties so that they are ideal for craft malters and micro-breweries. Many of our artisan variety are known for their superior quality, and are balanced in terms of odor, flavor, freshness, and bitterness.
The barley is monitored weekly throughout the growing season to ensure that nitrogen and protein content will continue to meet our customer’s specifications. All of our barley products are irrigation and grown under pivot irrigation to ensure a uniformed, efficient watering schedule and to reduce the risk of head-molds at maturity.
